Phil Conein
Phil Conein is the founder and president of TECHEAD, a Richmond-based technology, creative, and workforce solutions firm he co-founded with his wife, Felice, nearly four decades ago. What began in a one-bedroom apartment has grown into a nationally recognized organization serving Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and businesses across a wide range of industries.
Throughout his career, Phil has operated at the intersection of talent, technology, and entrepreneurship, helping organizations navigate changing workforce needs while connecting people with meaningful opportunities. His experience spans the evolution of desktop publishing, the rise of the internet, modern staffing systems, and today's AI-driven transformation of work.
Beyond TECHEAD, Phil is a longtime advocate for Richmond's entrepreneurial ecosystem and serves as one of the conveners of The Salon for Entrepreneurs, a private gathering that brings founders, investors, and innovators together for candid conversation, relationship-building, and the exchange of ideas.
In this episode of Creating Evolving Organizations, Phil shares lessons from nearly forty years in business, explores how hiring systems have evolved from relationships to algorithms, and reflects on the opportunities and challenges emerging as artificial intelligence reshapes the future of work.
